Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will use effective communication, tact and diplomacy while continuously pushing for results, improvements and efficiency.  The Component Engineer will answer questions related to components on quote packages, will perform component research for new & existing customers and will assist in the ECO Process.

 

Job Description:

Use of Component Database Software to upload and manage Customer AVL’s

BOM Life Cycle reports

Component management.

Daily Sign Off of internal ECO’s

Incoming Inspection Support –and perform component verifications including measuring devices both simple electronic and measurement devices.

Receive, review and disposition of PCN notices to customers

Review quote package BOM to analyze completeness and accuracy for launching a material quote.

May develop test plans for component part Inspection/Evaluation/Screening.

Generate component specifications, prepare technical justification for the use of nonstandard parts, make technical presentations, provide technical interface to program management of part problems, support Product Engineering, Process Engineering, and Procurement.

Candidate may initiate contact with internal and external customers and suppliers, organize tasks, measure continuous improvement, and are able to balance multiple critical tasks simultaneously in a fast paced environment.

Familiarity with major manufacturers of Microelectronic, Mechanical and Electromechanical Components,

Must have a solid understanding of assembly processes, and the differences in assembly processes related to lead-free and leaded components, REACH, Conflict Mineral

Must have a good understanding of RF, analog and digital and optical component performance parameters, terminology and production techniques.

Must be familiar with production issues as related to component performance and limitations.

Investigates alternate component technologies or supplies, reducing cost and improving quality and reliability.

Acts as technical interface between component/production suppliers and external or internal customers, determining new and alternate sources.

Investigates alternate component technologies or supplies for reduced cost or improved quality and reliability, and implements changes.

Evaluates supplier change notification and qualifies changes, as needed.

May maintain component data management system including qualification records/results/documentation.

Investigating alternate component technologies or suppliers for reduced cost and improved quality/reliability and implementing changes when appropriate

Review and analyze quote packages on new business as well as redesigns of existing business within established deadlines.

Make recommendations on make vs. buy parts

Identify opportunities for process efficiency and quality improvements

 

Requirements: 

Electrical/Electronic Engineering/Technician (College/University Diploma)

Strong self motivation and goal setting with minimal input.

Strong documenting and communications skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required

Ability to conceptualize and understand technical reports, data, drawings, etc.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects at a time

Advanced skills in Excel (including Macros and pivot tables), basic skills in other Microsoft Office programs, including e-mail and Word

Able to work with a high level of accuracy

Professional attitude and demeanor;

Problem-solving and prioritization skills

Must be able to meet timely objectives

Ability to work as part of a team and demonstrate proven team building & leadership skills

A demonstrated high level of initiative, attention to detail and accuracy
